Adult Learning

TJC Beit Midrash “Study Hall”

Tahoe Jewish Community (TJC), a project of North Tahoe Hebrew Congregation and Temple Bat Yam, is excited to engage with adult (post-B Mitzvah age) learners for a year of learning.  We’ll embark on a journey beginning with what motivates us in our individual Jewish journeys and continue through the year focused on various aspects of Shabbat.  As Ahad Ha’am once quipped, “More than the Jewish people have kept Shabbat, Shabbat has kept the Jewish people.”  In our exploration of Shabbat, we’ll examine the historical roots from the Bible, the Rabbinic literature and practice surrounding Shabbat, have the opportunity to become Shabbat leaders, and more.  When sessions occur on Tuesdays/Thursdays they will be 630-8pm.  Feel free to join for each session throughout the year, or pick and choose the topics of interest.

**Depending on weather, realities, accessibility and schedules some of these sessions will be virtual (zoom), some multiple-access (both in person and zoom), or some only in person.  Please take note of this AND watch calendar/weekly e-newsletters for any changes/updates.
