Shabbat Hike: Mt. Tallac

8am - Lily Lake & Glen Alpine Trailhead Parking Area. Click Here for Meeting Place Map

The “summit” (literally and figuratively) of our TJC Hiking Club Season for 2022. We will be heading up the Mid-Tallac trailhead of the iconic Tahoe Summit - Mt. Tallac. This is a 7+ mile hike (that is total round trip). The route we have chosen is a fun and strenuous summit hike with spectacular views of Lake Tahoe, into Desolation Wilderness, and the entire surrounding area. As with all of our hikes, it is important that you are physically prepared including fitness, gear, and energy! If you have questions, please contact Rabbi Evon - rabbi@tbytahoe.org.

The TJC Hiking Club is a group that hikes together in the spirit of Jewish community and Shabbat. While many of us are experienced hikers, we are NOT guides. We welcome those ready for this summit hike to join knowing that we’ll show the way, but we are not guides and you assume all inherent risks. In that spirit, we will ask all participants to sign a simple waiver before the hike.

Future Scheduled Hikes:

Shabbat – Saturday August 6th: Rubicon Trail from DL Bliss to Emerald Bay. This is an approximately 4 miles route with moderate climbing, spectacular views, an historical lighthouse and maybe bald eagle and osprey viewing. This will be geared to those with medium fitness. *Dogs are not allowed on this route.

Shabbat - Saturday October 1st: Rocky Ridge, Burton Creek Loop. This will be a longer approximately 6-mile route. During this hike, we will take time to embrace the High Holy Day season as we will be hiking on Shabbat Shuvah - the Shabbat between Rosh Hashanah & Yom Kippur. Stay tuned for route, parking, & trailhead details.
